Volunteers Needed for Senior Band Night

Dear Band Families,

We only have a few weeks before we will be honoring the senior band members. On Friday, October 7, 2016, dinner for them and their immediate family will be served at 5:15PM, right after practice and before the football game. The rest of the band will enjoy pizza, bakery and beverages. Obviously, we need a few volunteers to help make sure this event goes smoothly.

Festival of Bands - Volunteers Needed

This will be the first performance of the North Royalton High School Marching Band 2016 Contest Show: The Elements! We will host bands from around Northeast Ohio as they showcase their talent. Band Fest Help Needed!

Hello Band Parents and Supporters!

Our 2016 Band Festival is this coming Saturday, September 17. We currently have very few people signed up to help. If you would like to help us out, please click here on this link . It will take you to the sign up genius where you can choose which volunteer opportunity you would like to do!

The jobs we need help with are as follows:

  • Program Sales (4) Sales will pause during NRHS Band's performance
  • Ushers (6) Volunteers will be assisting audience in the home stands
  • Ticket Sales and Collections (10) Volunteers will be needed at the start of the evening. Once the number of people entering slows down, volunteers can trade shifts to man entrances. Sales will end before NRHS Band's performance.
  • Concessions (8) Sales will pause during NRHS Band's performance

It really is an easy and fun evening and you will still get to see your student perform! Please sign up or let me know what you would like to do. If you have already signed up, thank you! Fruit Sale Blitz!

Our annual fruit sale is just about to begin! This sale is a huge fundraiser for our band and will be a great success with everyone participating. This year we are using a new supplier, Pee Jays Fresh Fruit. We will be offering grapefruit, tangelos, navel oranges from California, pears, pineapples and some mixed assortments. Yummy stuff! The big kickoff to our sale will be our Blitz Weekend, September 10th & 11th. This is the weekend when our bandos hit the streets to offer our fantastic selection of fruit to the local communities. All students will sell door-to-door in groups of two or three at some point during that weekend. There is an ACT test the morning of the 10th, so please keep that in mind when picking a time to help with this fundraiser. We ask that each group go out for at least two hours. Please remind your children that they will be representing the North Royalton High School Marching Band, so we ask them to be polite and appreciative. They are to wear some kind of band shirt, such as the purple polo or white band t-shirt. This Wednesday, September 7th, after the 6-9 practice, all groups will sign out a blitz packet to be used for the door-to-door sale. One person from each group will be considered the captain and be responsible for getting the entire envelope, including the order form and money, returned to school the following Monday, September 12th. We will collect the envelopes and treat the kids to pizza for all of their hard work! Once your child brings home a blitz packet, please look inside to get familiar with the contents and read the sheet that contains instructions and reminders. This sheet will also be sent in an email as a reminder for everyone. Because packets will be distributed after 6-9 practice, your child may be a few minutes later leaving rehearsal this Wednesday.

Please encourage your bando to be enthusiastic during the door-to-door sales blitz! Our band has been selling fruit and doing other fundraisers for years with a "pay-it-forward" attitude. Others gave of their time so that our current students would benefit, so we all need to do the same for those who will follow in future years.

Button Pick-up

Hello Band Families!

For those that have not picked up their Band Picture Buttons, I will be in the cafeteria (by the band room) to hand out buttons THIS Wednesday night (9/7) AFTER the 6-9 practice. Since this weekend is an away game, if you don’t pick them up on Wednesday night, you will have to wait until Friday, September 16th at the game.

Support Our Band & Pictures From Friday Are Online

Hi Everyone,

As a booster organization it is our job to help support and promote our band and its students. Band Boosters provides marching, contest and concert uniforms; flags; music licensing; show writing and choreography; instruments and instrument repair; dry-cleaning; paint for dots; awards; trip support; and so much more. None of this would be possible without fundraisers that are staffed, run and supported by parents.

Unfortunately over the past five years, we have lost several big fundraisers: Nautica ($34,000), Entertainment Books ($1,500) and, just last year, Market Day ($8,500). We have been able to soften these blows mostly by maximizing our current fundraisers. We are concerned that everyone understands that every fundraiser is vitally important to the band. In order to keep providing the same excellent experience for our students, we have to make the most of the fundraisers we have. Additionally, what we truly do not want to happen is the loss of another fundraiser, such as Air Show. Depending on how we do with these fundraisers we may have to investigate other options. Here are the fundraisers that we have going on right now. Please consider helping out in any way you can.

Cleveland Air Show

Currently our largest fundraiser, the Air Show doesn’t cost anything except volunteer time. We need 80 volunteers each day to collect/sell tickets. We work in teams of two from 8:00am- 4:00pm. Students can participate as long as they are high school aged. If we fall short of volunteers for any of the days we will lose money from the potential $10,000 for this year, and we could possibly lose this as a fundraiser for future years. This is our largest fundraiser and we need it to not only be successful this year, but future years as well. Right now we still need about 40 more. Volunteers need to sign up NOW. Car Raffle

For the ninth consecutive year, our district is participating in the Car Raffle Fundraiser sponsored by Serpentini Chevrolet of Strongsville. Your student should have received two tickets from us. If you haven’t seen them please ask your student. The tickets are sold for $20 each ($10 will go to the band and $10 will go to the North Royalton Stadium Foundation). If every student sells both of their tickets we would raise over $5,500! The seller of the winning ticket will receive $500 too! Because we really want each student to sell both tickets, Band Boosters is adding an additional incentive. Each band student who sells BOTH tickets and turns in the ticket stubs and money by September 30 will be entered into a drawing to win a contest hoodie (size large).

Volunteers are needed to sell 50/50 raffle tickets in the stands games and Band Fest. All you have to do is talk to people coming into the stadium or sitting in the stands. The tickets actually sell themselves! Plus you get to watch the band as the sales at halftime. You do not have to volunteer for every game. You can choose which ones will fit in your schedule. Use this link if you are available to help.

Please help our band by contributing in whatever way you can – whether it is volunteering your time, buying/selling Car Raffle tickets, or becoming a Band Booster member. If everyone does a little, no one will have to do a lot. There will also be other opportunities to help and contribute throughout the year. Remember, anything you do will only benefit our kids.
